Windows Server Backup Monitoring
Add a Windows server backup monitor and know the status of your backups, events, disk usages, and policy schedule details. Set thresholds for attributes and get notified when the threshold is breached. The Windows server backup monitor uses the Site24x7 Windows agent for monitoring, i.e. they will be auto-discovered and added for monitoring once the Windows agent is successfully installed.
Supported Versions: Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012, Windows 2012 R2, Windows 2016, and later
Add a Windows Server Backup Monitor
- Log in to Site24x7 and go to Server > Windows Server Backup (+).
- Click on Download Site24x7 Windows Server Agent. Copy-paste the device key, when prompted, in the installation wizard.
Once the Windows agent installation is complete, the agent will auto-discover and add the Windows server backup monitor. Go to Server > Windows Server Backup to view the performance metrics for the backup monitor.
If you don't want the application to be auto-discovered and added for monitoring, toggle No for the option Auto discover applications on the server in the Settings page (Admin > Server Monitor > Settings).
Add a Threshold and Availability Profile
Once the Windows server backup monitor is successfully added to your Site24x7 account, add a Threshold and Availability profile to help the alarms engine decide if a specific resource has to be declared critical or down. Log in to Site24x7 and go to Admin > Configuration Profiles > Threshold and Availability (+) > select the Monitor Type as Windows Server Backup > set the threshold values and Save the changes.
Windows Server Backup Thresholds:
Notify when Volume Shadow Service has Stopped: Get notified with status Down, Trouble, or Critical when the Volume Shadow Service is not running in your Windows backup server.
Error Count: Get notified with status Trouble or Critical when the number of error events related to Windows backup exceeds the specified count.
Warning Count: Get notified with status Trouble or Critical when the number of warning events related to Windows backup exceeds.
Disable a threshold to stop receiving alerts:
If you want to stop receiving alerts, you can disable the threshold by using the following steps:
- Click the profile in the Threshold and Availability screen which needs to be edited or deleted.
- This will navigate you to the Edit Threshold Profile window.
- Under the Threshold Configuration tab, select No or remove the threshold value to disable that particular threshold.
- Click Save.
